Billing

Refunds & Cancellations

Last updated: August 13, 2026

How monthly tuition, missed lessons, make-ups, refunds, and stopping or changing a plan work at MK Performing Arts. These are the same terms set out in the enrollment agreement you sign, published here so you can read them before you enroll.

The Short Version

  • Monthly tuition is billed month to month. There is no long-term contract and there is never a cancellation fee.
  • To stop or change a plan for the following month, tell us by the 15th of the current month. After the 15th, one more month bills at your usual rate before the change takes effect.
  • You can stop or change a plan yourself from the client portal, or by submitting a Notice of Cancellation. You never have to call to cancel.
  • Lessons need at least 24 hours' notice to be rescheduled. Less notice than that, and the lesson credit counts as used.
  • Tuition, lessons, and classes are not refunded — including lessons that are missed, cancelled, or paid for in advance.

Monthly Tuition and When You Are Charged

Monthly tuition plans renew automatically each month until they are stopped. Depending on the plan, tuition covers either 2 or 4 lesson credits a month.

Monthly tuition is charged automatically 10 days before the 1st of the month it covers. Drop-in lesson and coaching payments are due at least 24 hours before the scheduled session.

Lessons included in monthly tuition must be used within the month they are purchased and expire on the last day of that month. Any lessons taken beyond your monthly credits are billed at the single-lesson rate.

A valid payment method must be kept on file to take lessons with us. A student with a declined or outstanding balance cannot take current or future lessons until the balance is settled.

Stopping Your Lessons

You may pause, cancel, or end your lesson tuition at any time, and there is no cancellation fee.

The deadline is the 15th. A request received by the 15th of the current month stops tuition for the following month. A request received after the 15th means one more month bills at your usual rate before lessons end.

For example: to end tuition for December, tell us before 15 November. If nothing is submitted by then, December bills in full.

Two ways to do it, both without phoning anyone: stop or change the plan yourself in the client portal, or submit a Notice of Cancellation from the website. If you would rather pause than stop — for a sports season, a show, or exams — call or text us and we will set that up instead.

A student who wants to re-enroll after ending their tuition pays a $25 re-entry fee.

Changing Your Plan

You can move to a different tuition plan whenever you need to, from the client portal.

Plan changes follow the same timing as stopping: a change requested by the 15th takes effect the following month, and a change requested after the 15th takes effect the month after that.

Missed Lessons and Make-Ups

Lessons are scheduled in a recurring time slot. If you know you will be unavailable, reschedule before the 15th of the prior month — slots are in high demand and teachers begin setting the following month's schedule from the 11th.

A lesson cancelled less than 24 hours in advance is not rescheduled, and the lesson credit counts as used.

Where you give at least 24 hours' notice and your teacher cannot fulfil the request, contact the studio before the end of the month and we will work to resolve it.

A rescheduled lesson keeps the length and price originally booked, whether it is rescheduled at your request or ours.

An in-person lesson rescheduled after the 1st of the month is rescheduled as an online lesson.

Refunds

Michael Karl Studio, LLC d/b/a MK Performing Arts does not offer refunds on services, lesson tuition, or classes — including lessons or classes that are cancelled, missed, or purchased in advance.

Nothing in this policy limits or excludes any refund or consumer right that applicable law does not permit us to exclude. If you believe a charge is wrong, contact us and we will look into it.

Fees You Should Know About

  • One-time registration fee of $50 when you first enroll.
  • $25 re-entry fee for a returning student re-enrolling after ending tuition.
  • $50 late fee on any monthly tuition payment not received before the 1st of the month.
  • $30 late fee on a drop-in lesson or coaching session not paid at least 24 hours before the session.
  • An additional $50 on any payment outstanding more than 30 days.
  • $30 fee for a credit card dispute.
  • Optional extras for drop-ins and coaching, priced before you agree to them — for example sheet music at $6.00 and a piano accompaniment track at $20.00.

Classes, Camps, and Programs

Classes, camps, and programs are purchased for a set of dates rather than as monthly tuition. Any deposit, payment deadline, or cancellation date that applies to a particular program is disclosed on that program's registration page or form before you pay.

Where a class or camp has its own registration form and waiver, those terms apply to that program alongside this policy.

If Something Is Wrong

Contact us at hello@mkperformingarts.com or (770) 615-6572 before disputing a charge with your bank — most billing questions are quicker to fix directly, and a card dispute carries a $30 fee.

The binding terms for lessons are the Private Lesson Policy Agreement that the account manager signs at enrollment. This page publishes those terms so you can read them before you buy; where the two ever differ, the signed agreement is the agreement.
