Studio Owner

Voice + College Audition Coach

Michael Karl is a voice teacher, performer, and studio founder dedicated to creating spaces where artists feel safe enough to grow. He believes real progress happens not just through technique, but through trust—when a student feels secure enough to take risks, make mistakes, and discover their voice.

A graduate of Belmont University (BFA, Musical Theatre), Michael began his training at Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and has performed with organizations including Houston Grand Opera, Masquerade Theatre, Disney Cruise Line, A.D. Players, and Working Title Playwrights. His teaching is informed by a deep study of vocal pedagogy, grounded in evidence-based vocal science and human learning theory, and shaped by continued mentorship from voice teacher trainer Lisa Haupert.

In 2017, he founded MK Performing Arts (formerly Michael Karl Studio) in Atlanta, Georgia. Since then, he has coached over 2,000 students from across North America, specializing in mix voice technique and commercial and musical theatre styles. He also directs the studio’s University Prep™ program, which supports students through the college audition process. His students have been accepted into top performing arts programs at University of Michigan, Elon, Texas State, NYU Tisch, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, OCU, Belmont, Miami, and more.

Michael’s teaching is rooted in the belief that art is for everyone. His mission is simple: to help students unlearn fear, reconnect with their voice, and realize what they’re capable of—on stage and off.
